Focus on providing both strategic and tactical thought leadership and day-to-day hands-on management to all areas that are impacted by Companys’ federal tax practices, policies, and procedures.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS POSITION:
The mandate for this position is to drive change within the Company to help build a successful, world-class tax organization. As with all Tax Directors of the Company, this individual must be viewed as a respected business partner capable of delivering thoughtful, proactive advice to Companys’ global finance leadership team and to various US business leaders.
Key priorities and challenges include the following:
- Working with the VP, Tax Counsel and other Tax Directors, assist in developing and implementing a global tax strategy that maximizes consolidated Company financial results and supports business objectives.
- Function as a business and tax leader for federal tax compliance, audits, tax planning, process improvement, policies, and procedures within the Company. This includes serving as a primary contact with the IRS and managing IRS audits and controversy as appropriate.
- Actively support the Tax Accounting Manager by ensuring that all federal tax items are properly accounted for in quarterly and annual income tax provisions and all current and deferred tax accounts are properly reconciled and accurately computed. Ensure appropriate accounting processes are followed with documentation of all material controls sufficient to satisfy SOX 404 requirements.
- Jointly manage the co-sourced US income tax compliance work and the multiple tax providers involved to continuously improve the quality of work product, the processing and cycle time and the all-in cost of work involved.
- Establish productive and value-adding relationships with tax advisors and other outside vendors of tax-related products and services. Ensure that the company is always receiving the highest quality tax counsel and service, and is always conducting itself with integrity and professionalism.
A technical background in federal tax and FAS 109 GAAP accounting requirements is required to be successful in this role. Equally important to your success, however, is the ability to work well with people at all levels of our organization; excellent communication skills, a working knowledge of GAAP and SAP; the ability to manage multiple projects; and a sincere drive to create change.
The most highly sought after candidates will be broad-based financial professionals with strong academic credentials and at least 7-10 years of federal tax experience in public accounting or industry. Required education includes a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance, and a preference for candidates with a CPA and MST, JD, and/or MBA degrees. |
